Since 2006, Sarah Phillips has worked with organisations
including Situations, Camden Arts Centre and Artsadmin
to deliver innovative projects in unusual spaces.
Now she is embarking on her own venture … taking Esmerelda, a 1969 Ace Globetrotter, on the road to connect with artists and communities at festivals and events across the UK. The caravan will be a mobile arts lab, and in each site an eclectic programme of events will be hosted in and around the caravan, including exhibitions, film screenings, installations, performances, talks and workshops – each providing a unique response to the locality for the duration of the stay.
CARAVAN ARTS is a 13ft space with limitless scope. Artists of every kind will be invited on board to explore their practice, collaborate in new ways, experiment and reflect – imagining and creating new visions for the caravan and for the diverse publics she encounters.
Sarah is an artist-educator, lecturer, creative producer and writer based in South East London. She runs adult art history & contemporary art courses, delivers creative workshops for Action for Refugees in Lewisham and lectures in Visual Culture at UWE, Bristol.
