CARAVAN ARTS is a mobile arts lab & micro venue based in a vintage 1969 Ace Globetrotter, hosting:
exhibitions & installations
talks & events
Since 2006, Sarah Phillips has worked with organisations including Situations, Camden Arts Centre & Artsadmin to deliver innovative projects in unusual spaces.
Now she is embarking on her own venture; taking a vintage 1969 Ace Globetrotter caravan on the road to connect with artists & communities at festivals & events across the UK. The caravan is a mobile arts lab; a space to experiment with new ideas & techniques. In each site an eclectic programme of events will be hosted in & around the van, including exhibitions, film screenings, installations, performances, talks & workshops – each providing a unique response to the locality for the duration of the stay.
CARAVAN ARTS is a small space with limitless scope. Artists & performers will be invited on board to explore their practice, collaborate in new ways, experiment and reflect – imagining & creating new visions for the caravan & for the diverse publics encountered.
Sarah is an artist-educator, lecturer, creative producer & writer based in South East London. She has run projects and workshops with multiple community groups and orgs including Action for Refugees in Lewisham, Cafe Art, Art Refuge UK, The Anna Freud Centre, Get The Message, Salford Asylum Centre and others. She currently lectures in art history, contemporary art and Visual Culture in various venues in London and at UWE, Bristol.
